URI Police to hold active threat training exercise June 23

June 21, 2023

The URI Police Department will be conducting an active threat training exercise on Friday, June 23. The trainings will take place in Ballentine Hall, Davis Hall, and the library. While these trainings will occur outside of business hours, the areas being used will be marked with signs indicating police training in progress.

These trainings will take between the hours of 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. and then again from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The officers will be accompanied by instructors/safety officers wearing yellow vests and no live weapons will be used. There will be occasional loud noises created within the buildings by sound-emitting distraction devices and fired blanks. There may be role players using special effects makeup.

Thank you for your cooperation.
