URI's Second Annual Women's Leadership
Conference to be held on Nov. 2
KINGSTON, R.I. -- October 30, 2000 -- The University of Rhode Island's
second annual Women's Leadership Conference will be held Thursday, November
2 on URI's Kingston Campus. The title of this year's conference is "Highlighting
the Past - Lighting the Way for the Future." Myrth York will be the
keynote speaker.
Registration will be held at 3:30 p.m., and the Conference begins at
4:00 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom. Admission to the Conference, which
includes dinner, dessert, and conference materials, is $5 for students and
senior citizens, $10 for faculty, staff, and community. Pre-registration
is preferred and can be done by calling 401-874-2056 or by visiting the
Memorial Union main office.
The focus of this year's Conference is to remind women of the importance
of voting. In addition to the keynote speech, there will be a series of
workshops on topics such as consciousness raising and everyday activism
and action.
The Conference is hosted by the URI Women's Center and the URI Center
for Student Leadership Development.
