Career and Internship fair at URI Providence Campus, April 15

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- April 2, 2004 -- The University of Rhode Island's Feinstein Providence Campus will host a Career and Internship Fair on Thursday, April 15, 2004 from 3 to 6:30 pm. Students and alumni from URI and other colleges are welcome to attend. The fair will be held in the Paff Center located on the first floor of the campus at 80 Washington St.

George Glover, an assistant coordinator of employment and training programs at the R.I. Department of Labor and Training will present a workshop at 3:30 p.m. on career planning for the Rhode Island labor market. Glover, who has worked for the labor statistics department for nearly 30 years, supervises several statewide surveys including the Current Employment Statistics survey, which provides a monthly count of jobs in the state. Due to limited seating available for this workshop, participants are urged to make reservations in advance by calling 277-5015, or signing up at the URI Providence Campus' Student Services office, room 125.

In addition to this workshop and meetings with the various companies and agencies at the fair, participants will also be able to submit their resumes for review and feedback.

The following agencies/companies will be participating in the fair: Accountemps, Aflac, American Express Financial, Americorp/RI Service Alliance, Children's Friends and Service, Citizens Bank, CVS, Family Service, Inc., Fellowship Health Resources, FleetBoston Financial, New England Center For Children, Rhode Island State Government Internship Program, Rhode Island Department of Labor & Training, Sovereign Bank, and the U.S. Social Security Administration.
