Artist Robin Wiseman to visit URI

Will discuss his work on Wed. March 30

KINGSTON, R.I -- March 24, 2005 -- Robin Wiseman, known throughout New England for his artwork, will speak about his current display at URI on Wed. March 30. The discussion on “The figure: drawings from life,” will take place at the Library Gallery on the Kingston campus from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

Wiseman’s expertise is portraiture and figure drawings and recently had exhibits at both the BFA Studioworks Gallery and the RISD Faculty Art Show. His exhibit at URI lasts until April 1.

He received bachelors’ degrees in fine arts and architecture from Rhode Island School of Design and a master’s degree in fine arts (drawing) from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He has taught at colleges and universities throughout New England including Brandeis University, Rhode Island College and Rhode Island School of Design. Currently, he teaches at Massachusetts College of Art.

Wiseman is a founding honorary artist member of the Art League of Rhode Island and has received the RISDICE Visual Arts Teacher of Excellence Award.
