KINGSTON, R.I. – April 13, 2007 – The Biggest Splash, duet karaoke, Greek Sing, and a lip sync competition are among the events in this year’s University of Rhode Island Greek Week competition. The games, involving fraternities and sororities begin Saturday, April 14 and will end Friday, April 20.

The first major event of the competition is Mr. and Miss Greek Week, a mini pageant, held on Sunday, April 15 at 7 p.m. in Keaney Gymnasium. Competitors will be judged on four rounds including athletic wear, formal wear, talent, and a question-and-answer session.

The Biggest Splash competition, to be held Tuesday, April 17 at 6 p.m. in the Tootell Aquatic Center, describes the event perfectly. Fraternity and sorority teams will jump into the pool, safely of course, and whichever chapter makes the biggest sounding splash, according to the judges, will win.

The last two nights of Greek Week feature the two biggest, most competitive, and most popular events of the competition. On Thursday, April 19, Greek Sing will be held in Keaney Gymnasium at 6 p.m. This event consists of chapters singing a collection of songs with simple choreographed hand movements.

The following night features the Lip Sync competition. On Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. in Keaney Gymnasium, chapters will perform their well-rehearsed, highly choreographed dances to recorded music.
