Graduate (M.S. / Ph.D.) Program in
Pharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics

This program is offered through the Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Design, development, production, evaluation and regulatory approval of pharmaceutical and self care products as well as pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies using virtual, clinical, and preclinical data, often with an emphasis on population approaches.

Master of Science

Admission requirements
GRE and Pharm.D. or bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, chemistry, biological sciences or allied sciences; TOEFL (for non-English speaking countries).

Program requirements
Successful completion of 30 credits of graduate study, including PHC 502, BPS 525, STA 409, STA 411, or equivalent; CHM 431 or CHM 432 or BCH 435; nine credits of 500 or 600 level pharmaceutics or pharmacokinetics courses, 2 seminar credits, 6-9 thesis research credits, thesis.

Doctor of Philosophy (Pharmaceutical Sciences)

Admission requirements
GRE and master’s degree in pharmacy, chemistry, biological sciences or allied sciences, or bachelor’s degree in one of these areas with evidence of superior ability. Qualifying examination is required for candidates accepted without the master’s degree. Qualified students may be admitted directly to the Ph.D. program.

Program requirements
Successful completion of 72 credits of graduate study, including up to 24 research credits, PHC 502, written and oral comprehensive examination, dissertation. Students are expected to attend and participate in the departmental seminars during their entire tenure in the Ph.D. program, for a maximum of three credits assigned to the core credit requirement.

M.S. core requirements, plus BPS 693, BPS 694, IME 533, six credits from CHE 530, CHM 512, MIC 533, MIC 552, NFS 502, PHP 680, CHM 511, STA 535; and ten additional credits of 500 or 600 level BPS courses.
