Team USA’s 3×3 women’s basketball team wins the bronze medal with
a victory over Canada on August 5!

The University of Rhode Island’s own Coach Tammi Reiss is in Paris this week with the USA Women’s National Team as they compete in the 2024 Olympic Games. Earlier this year, Reiss was named assistant coach to Team USA’s 3×3 women’s basketball team under head coach Jennifer Rizzotti, president of the Connecticut Sun.

Last year, Reiss led URI women’s basketball to its first conference title. During a recent media availability Reiss talked about fulfilling a lifelong dream of representing her country in the Olympic Games. “There is no greater honor on the world stage,” she said.

She talked about the challenges of 3×3 versus 5-on-5, the responsibility she feels to grow the game of women’s basketball at every opportunity, as well as the importance of enjoying the moment the team finds themselves in.

“This is a very rare opportunity, don’t work it away. Yes, we’re going for gold, but you have to enjoy the moment and take it in,” she says. “Take everything in about it that you can and enjoy the process. I’m going to do that.”
