URI to host Turfgrass Field Day on Aug. 16

KINGSTON, R.I. — August 2, 2000 — Are you obsessed with growing and maintaining the perfect lawn? Do crabgrass and weeds make you miserable? If so, then the University of Rhode Island’s 69th annual Turfgrass Field Day is for you. Designed primarily for turf industry professionals – landscapers, golf course superintendents, and other grounds workers – the event is also open to the public to learn about the latest products, equipment and research into lawn maintenance. Turfgrass Field Day will be held on Aug. 16 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the URI Turfgrass Research Farm on Plains Road in Kingston. The event will feature a weed identification and management workshop, herbicide and fungicide trials, demonstration plots showing the performance of different species of grass, and an exhibition of the latest mowing and maintenance equipment.
