URI Friends of Oceanography to Host Early Morning Bird Walks

Narragansett, R.I. — April 18, 2001 –Whether you’re a novice or experienced bird watcher, you won’t want to miss out on this series of early morning walks at URI’s Narragansett Bay Campus. Led by Dr. Robert Kenney, a URI Graduate School of Oceanography marine scientist and expert birder, the walks will be held on five consecutive Wednesdays on May 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, at 7 a.m. Participants will meet at the Coastal Institute Building on the URI Bay Campus in Narragansett and enjoy scoping the abundance of songbirds that arrive with the advent of spring, including warblers, catbirds, and orioles. The fee for each walks is $2 for Friends of Oceanography members and $5 for non-members. Preregistration is NOT required. For information, call the Friends of Oceanography office at 874-6602.
