URI experts available to address community groups

KINGSTON, R.I. — September 4, 2001 — More than 160 experts from among the University of Rhode Island’s faculty, staff and administration are available to speak to community groups about a wide variety of subjects through the URI Speakers Bureau.

Speakers are available at no charge to address day or evening meetings on such subjects as business issues, healthy living, wildlife and the environment, history, forensic science, education, and dozens of others. A comprehensive list of topics can be viewed at www.new.uri.edu/speakers_bureau.htm. Presentations can be tailored to meet the needs of the organization and usually are a combination of lecture, discussion and questions and answers.
Over the last 12 months, URI speakers made more than 90 presentations to 51 different community groups in Rhode Island, from church groups and retiree organizations to civic clubs and chambers of commerce.
