URI to hold panel discussion on the
Nobel Prize in Economics

KINGSTON, R.I — October 16, 2001 — The URI Department of Economics will sponsor a panel discussion on winners of the Nobel Prize in Economics.
The discussion will be held at URI’s Kingston Campus on Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Galanti Lounge located on the third floor of the library. The event is free and open to the public.
URI Economics Professors Yngve Ramstad, James Starkey and Carole Miller will be the panel members. URI Professor of Economics John Burkett will introduce the speakers and may also join the discussion.
The panel will discuss the history and significance of the award and the contributions of past winners George Akerlof, Michael Spence and Joseph Stiglitz.
