URI students to view last presidential debate and respond technologically

WHO: URI Political Science Professor Maureen Moakley and 400 students enrolled in two sections of her introductory course to American Politics.


WHAT: Before the debate, students will be asked to respond to questions about their debate expectations and their political preference. Their collective answers will appear in graph form on PowerPoint. After the debate, students will be asked to evaluate the candidates’ positions on the issues and their debate performance and then they will be asked to register any changes in their position on the election.


WHEN: Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at 8:20 p.m.


WHERE: Chafee Social Science Center, Room 271, 10 Chafee Road, Kingston


WHY: To engage students in the democratic process using the latest technology.
