The event for municipal and school officials, small business owners, non-profits and Rhode Island residents will take place in the Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences on the URI Kingston campus. The free event is being organized by the URI Energy Center, the Washington County Regional Planning Council, and the Rhode Island Energy Efficiency & Resource Management Council, and it is sponsored by Alteris Renewables.
“This forum will bring together experts in energy efficiency and renewable energy to talk about the funding options and other technical resources available to support sustainable energy projects in the state,” said Marion Gold, co-director of the URI Energy Center. “It’s a great opportunity to network, learn about what projects are in the works, and figure out where we go from here.”
The event opens with a plenary session featuring presentations by Whitehouse, Paul Ryan, chair of the Energy Efficiency and Resource Management Council, and Kenneth Payne, administrator of the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources.
The speakers will be followed by three concurrent sessions targeting residential, municipal or commercial and institutional energy projects. Each will feature a panel of local experts discussing successful initiatives involving energy efficiency and renewable energy.
The program will close with a discussion of Rhode Island’s energy future and how to overcome obstacles to achieving a sustainable energy plan.
