“Not since the park and parkway designs of the early 1900s have landscape architects been involved in such large and important projects. Our aging infrastructure, so often discussed in national news, is becoming once again a critical aspect of our practice,” explained Trowbridge.
Trowbridge is the founding principal for Trowbridge Wolf Michaels Landscape Architects in Ithaca, N.Y. and chair and professor of landscape architecture at Cornell University. His work focuses on green and structured infrastructure in the public sector and at higher education institutions. His work has received numerous national and regional awards for its innovation and timeliness.
Upcoming lecturers this spring will be MIT Landscape Architecture Professor Anne Whiston Spirn (Apr. 9) and Kaki Martin of Klopfer Martin Design Group (Apr. 23).
All talks are free, open to the public and begin at 7 p.m. in Weaver Auditorium of the URI Coastal Institute in Kingston.
The URI Landscape Architecture series is co-sponsored by the Rhode Island chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the URI College of the Environment and Life Sciences, the URI College of Arts and Sciences, and Landscape Forms.
