Students asked to complete survey regarding food insecurity

We need YOUR help to leave No Ram Hungry!

March 27, 2023

Studies have shown that university students have trouble getting enough food to support a healthy, active lifestyle. That’s why the University of Rhode Island Feinstein Center for a Hunger Free America and Division of Student Affairs are working to examine food security among URI students, and we need your help! We want to hear about your experiences so that we can develop ways to help improve food security on campus. That’s where you come in. You can help us out by:

1) Taking the food security survey at tinyurl.com/URIFoodSecurity

2) Helping us spread the word about the survey by sharing the survey on social media.

Each student who completes the survey will be entered in a daily drawing for a $50 gift card and weekly drawing for a $100 gift card. You can earn more drawing entries by sharing the survey on social media to increase the odds of your email being drawn!

The survey is open now through Saturday, April 8, so be sure to act quickly.

Together, we can help make sure that we leave No Ram Hungry.

The goal of the survey is to assess the student population’s level of food insecurity so we can understand the situation and begin to address it in an informed way. That could mean applying for grants or getting greater support from donors. There are organizations on campus tasked with addressing this problem and to do so, we need some baseline data.

We would like all students to participate because that will give us a better picture of the needs at URI. But if we could get 3,000 survey responses, that would be more than helpful.  Again, the results will be used to inform programming and ideally would be published as well in the academic literature on university food insecurity.
