October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month

The University of Rhode Island in conjunction with a national campaign is once again marking October as Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This is your chance to sharpen your cybersecurity skills, learn ways to avoid security threats and take steps to reduce your cybersecurity risk!

URI’s Information Technology Services wants you to stay safe online and be aware of everyday cybersecurity practices to follow. Each Monday in October, ITS will share helpful tips and resources to help you stay safe and secure, whether at work, at school, or at home. Be on the lookout in Rhody Today for weekly tips and quizzes regarding the four pillars of this year’s campaign:

Recognizing and reporting phishing
Using strong passwords and passwords management
Keeping software up to date
Enabling multifactor authentication
