Required presidential performance review

Nov. 7 2023

Dear Members of the URI Community,

As part of normal governing responsibilities, the URI Board of Trustees reviews the performance of the University president annually. The board also conducts a comprehensive performance review prior to the renewal of the president’s contract.

President Marc Parlange joined URI in August 2021. His current contract will expire in June 2024. Consistent with board bylaws, we are now initiating the required comprehensive review.

The purpose of the comprehensive review is simple: The board invites feedback from key constituents of URI on the progress of the president in achieving institutional priorities. To obtain this feedback we will issue an anonymous survey to a cross-section of URI stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external stakeholders.

This online survey will serve as an assessment instrument and will be distributed shortly from the URI Board of Trustees email (uribot@uri.edu). The anonymous survey responses will be evaluated and included in the comprehensive assessment of the president’s performance and progress in achieving institutional priorities.

The substance of the review process will remain confidential. An announcement will be sent to the URI community upon completion of the review process.

On behalf of the URI Board of Trustees, thank you for your dedication to URI and for all that you do to advance our University.

Go Rhody!
