WHO: About 2,200 youth soccer players from New England, New York, New Jersey, and Canada, college coaches, professional scouts, referees, and spectators.
WHAT: The 20th annual Seaside Classic Soccer Tournament, run by the South County Youth Soccer Club. The tournament, played on organic turf fields, features 11-on-11 games, and this year will also include 6-on-6 games. Since the tournament began, it has brought millions of dollars in revenues to hotels, businesses, and attractions. Murray Gates and Steve Washburn, the tournament’s co-coordinators, are both URI graduates.
WHEN: Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
