URI Forensic Science Seminar, April 10

“A Prosecutor’s Views”


KINGSTON, R.I. – April 7, 2009 – Rhode Island State Assistant Attorney General Stacey Veroni will present a seminar titled “A Prosecutor’s Views” as part of the URI Forensic Science Seminar Series, April 10.


The seminar will run from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in room 124 at the Kingston campus, Pastore Hall, at 51 Lower College Road. The seminar is free and open to the public.


Veroni heads the criminal division of the state Attorney General’s office, the first woman in the office’s history to do so. In 2006 she received the Rhode Island Women’s Bar Association’s Ada Sawyer Annual Award of Excellence.


Veroni graduated from Boston College in 1990 and received her law degree from Suffolk University in 1993. In addition to heading the criminal division, Veroni has served the Attorney General’s office as chief of the Washington County office and as chief of the narcotics and organized crime unit. She served as chief of the domestic violence and sexual assault unit under then-Attorney General Sheldon Whitehouse. Veroni, an adjunct faculty member at Salve Regina University, also has experience on the criminal division’s district court, grand jury, and domestic violence and sexual assault units within the Attorney General’s office.
