URI to host 10th annual R.I. Accountants and Auditors Institute Oct. 3

KINGSTON, R.I. – September 19, 2007 — The University of Rhode Island will host the 10th Annual Rhode Island Accountants and Auditors Institute on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 8:45 a.m. at the URI Feinstein Providence Campus.


The general session workshop, “Budget Challenges of the Statutory Tax Cap – One Year On,” includes speakers: William J. Fazioli senior vice president of First Southwest Co.; David N. Cicilline mayor of Providence; and Scott Avedisian mayor of Warwick.


Workshops being held between 10:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. are: “Effective Business Communication and You: Challenges and Rewards,” “Advanced Excel–Working with Charts and Graphs” and “Accounting and Auditing Developments.” Workshops being held between 1:15 and 2:45 p.m. are: “Auditing Ethics,” “GASB 45–The Study is Done–Now How to Fund it?” and “Here a Fraud, There a Fraud, Everywhere a Fraud-Fraud.” For each of these times participants will attend one workshop.


Admission to the institute is $75, which includes various seminars, workshops, lunch and seven professional continuing education credits (CPE’s). The campus is located at 80 Washington St., Providence.
