Federal explosives expert to lecture at URI

KINGSTON, R.I. – September 24, 2007- MaryLou Fultz, of the federal bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, will be discussing “Explosives” on Oct. 5 at the University of Rhode Island Forensic Science Seminar Series.


The event will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Pastore Hall, 51 Lower College Road, Room 124 and is free and open to public.


Fultz’s talk, “Explosives”, will concentrate on her experience as chief of the Forensic Science Laboratory in the bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, which is one of the U.S. Department of Justice bureaus.


The mission of the ATF laboratories is ‘to provide the accurate and authoritative scientific information needed by the Bureau” to protect the public.


The ATF laboratories, which Fultz is chief of, became the first federal laboratory to be accredited by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board.
