There are two options in this major: Nutrition or Dietetics. Drawing on chemistry, biochemistry and physiology, the Nutrition option focuses on the body’s requirements for nutrients throughout life, and the effects of inadequate intakes on health and well-being. Nutritionists also study social, economic, cultural, and psychological implications of food and eating. Three tracks include Nutrition Science, Health Promotion, or Foods. The Dietetics option is for those planning to become a Registered Dietitian and is the application of knowledge about food and nutrition to help people achieve and maintain health.
