All classes starting at 12:30 p.m. and after, Thursday, Feb. 18, to be held virtually

With forecasters calling for snow beginning Thursday, Feb. 18, all classes on all campuses starting at 12:30 p.m. and after that time, including those delivered in-person and virtually, will be delivered virtually. Students should check their email and Brightspace course site for course-specific remote learning expectations. We urge faculty who had planned to teach in-person Thursday afternoon and evening to share their course expectations, whether they are to involve independent work or a synchronous remote class meeting.

The storm is expected to continue well into Thursday evening and potentially through Friday morning, Feb. 19. The University will continue to monitor the storm’s track and will provide an update about University operations Thursday evening.

COVID-19 surveillance testing

COVID-19 surveillance testing will be available in the Memorial Union from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday. Those scheduled to test may do so from 8 a.m. to noon tomorrow or any time Friday, Feb. 19, but please check the COVID testing hours to make sure the site does not have a delayed opening because of weather conditions on Friday.

Nursing clinicals

Thursday morning in-person clinicals will start at 7 a.m. as regularly scheduled. Instructors are asked to use their best judgment regarding decisions to end instruction early because of the storm. Afternoon in-person clinicals, which normally run from 2:30 to 10 p.m., are canceled. Instructors are asked to inform their students if they plan to hold an alternative virtual exercise.

Partial parking ban

The University has instituted a partial parking ban starting Thursday, Feb. 18, at 6 a.m., and continuing until further notice. During and after the storm, the Departments of Public Safety and Facilities Operations ask for your cooperation to help keep our community safe.

A partial parking ban means:

  • No parking on any roadway to include: Upper College Road, Lower College Road, West Alumni Avenue, Ranger Road, Davis Road, Keaney Road and the entire length of Flagg Road. Please note that due to recent additions to on-street parking, several streets have been added to the above partial parking ban.
  • Approved parking: Students may park in any student lot; faculty and staff may park in their designated lots.
  • Facilities Services asks that all state vehicles park on the north side of any parking lot to facilitate snow removal.

Be aware of these restrictions and park only in approved locations. Vehicles parked in areas where no parking is permitted during a partial parking ban will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense.

Community members who have to be out during the storm should expect hazardous driving and walking conditions and should exercise extra caution and give themselves plenty of time to arrive safely.
