The pandemic has brought us a number of ups and downs that we would not normally experience. In February, our youngest daughter presented us with our first two grandsons. After three granddaughters, we were overjoyed. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, we have not been able to hold them for two months. Since retirement, I’ve been substitute teaching at the local high school for the past 10 years. The pandemic cut that short when schools in Virginia were closed. The cancellation of spring sports meant that I would not be officiating girls high school lacrosse games, something I’ve been doing for 15 years. Finally, with my gym and the golf courses closed, I’ve had to hold off on my usual exercise routine, and be satisfied with walking throughout our community. We’ve been cooking a lot, and watching Mass from our parish online. We also Face Time with our kids and grand-kids regularly. Nevertheless, we are safe and healthy.
