URI Alumni Association seeks nominations for its Alumni Excellence Awards

KINGSTON, R.I.– October 23, 1998–The University of Rhode Island Alumni Association is seeking nominees for the 1998 Excellence Awards, which recognize outstanding professional achievements by URI graduates. While the committee selecting the award recipients is representative of the University community, residents in their local communities and employees at their workplaces are in a unique position to see the contributions of URI graduates on a frequent, if not daily, basis. Excellence awards are given to alumni who have demonstrated distinction in one of the following areas: arts, business, community service, education, professional achievement, research, and science and technology. The awards will be presented during Alumni Weekend in June. Individuals who wish to nominate alumni for the awards must provide: the name of the nominee, the individual’s year of graduation, address, achievement in a specific field. The phone number of the individual making the nomination should be included. Twenty copies of that information, along with any supporting documentation, resumes, and/or news clippings, should also be submitted to the committee. The information will help the committee with its decisions. All information must be submitted by Nov. 1.
