Health Fair to offer multicultural community tips on healthy living KINGSTON, R.I.—August 25, 1999 — The Rhode Island community will have no reason to be unhealthy this year. That is, if they attend the Multicultural Health Fair at the University of Rhode Island. The fair will be held on September 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Multicultural Center on the Kingston Campus. Co-sponsored by the University of Rhode Island Diversity Task Force and the Rhode Island Department of Health, the fair is designed to promote healthy living among the multicultural population. Available at the fair will be minority health facts, including cancer prevention tips, AIDS information, and African American statistics on disease prevention. Health pamphlets in Spanish and Portuguese will be distributed, and recipe books filled with Asian recipes will be available. There will also be free screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, and sugar.
