URI’s annual landscape lectures to address master planning at URI

KINGSTON, R.I.-September 8, 1999 — The University of Rhode Island will once again host its annual Landscape Architecture Lecture Series. Free and open to the public, the series will bring a variety of lecturers to the University to address various aspects of “Master Planning and the Future of URI.” The lectures begin at 7:30 p.m. and are located in the White Hall Auditorium on the Kingston campus. General questions about the series may be directed to 874-2121. The following is the schedule of speakers: “Planning and Design Issues in Creating a Vision.” September 23. Christine Cousineau, Goody, Clancy & Associates, Boston Mass. Cousineau manages the Planning and Urban Design division at Goody, Clancy & Associates. As project-manager of the URI Master Plan team, Cousineau is coordinating the work of six different firms and is responsible for producing the final document. “Landscape Master Planning at URI – Issues and Opinions.” October 21. Jennifer Jones, ASLA, Principal, Carol R. Johnson & Associates, Cambridge, Mass. Jones is an award-winning landscape architect who has worked on campus landscape master plans for Ohio State University, Duke University and Bowdoin College. In addition to her work at URI, she is working on site development plans for Bentley College and the Harvard University Business School. “The URI Convocation Center and The Challenges in the Context.” November 18. Michael W. Hand, AIA, Vice President, HOKSPORT, Kansas City, MO. Hand has extensive experience in sports facility design and planning. He has participated in Superdome Improvements in New Orleans, the Tiger Stadium Master Plan and athletic facilities at the Universities of Arkansas, University of Cincinnati, and Penn State University.
