URI ‘Spring Into Action with the Gardening Experts’

URI invites residents to ‘Spring Into Action with the Gardening Experts’ KINGSTON, R.I.—February 29, 2000 — The University of Rhode Island’s Cooperative Extension Education Center and the URI Master Gardener Association will present their fifth annual “Spring into Action with the Gardening Experts” on Saturday, April 8, 2000. The daylong, hands-on program will feature fun and useful presentations by both URI Master Gardeners and URI faculty and staff. Whether you are new to gardening or have many years of experience, there will be topics to interest you. This is a chance to share information and tips with other gardening enthusiasts and enjoy the beauty of URI’s Learning Landscape. The following is a sample of the offerings: * Plant A Garden To Enjoy 12 Months Of The Year * Continuous Blooms In The New England Garden * Enhancing Bio-Diversity In Your Own Backyard * Designing A Water Garden To Fit Your Needs * Sharing Plants From Our Gardens – Backyard Propagation Basics * Create Your Own “European Dish Garden” * Growing Orchids In Your Home * Bonsai Basics * Flower Arranging * Sustainable Trees & Shrubs Walking Tour * Backyard Theme Gardens * Benefits of Beekeeping for the Home Gardener * Sustainable Landscaping Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. Workshops are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All of the day’s event will be held at URI’s Learning Landscape Gardens, Cooperative Extension Education Center, 3 East Alumni Ave., Kingston, RI 02881. Fee is $20 for a half-day or $30 for the full day. Registration with payment is due by March 24.
