URI to host Homecoming Weekend Oct. 13 to 15

KINGSTON, R.I. — October 5, 2000 — Come on home! That’s what the University of Rhode Island is saying to all its alumni. This year’s homecoming is packed with a little mystery, a little madness, and lots of fun. There’s even a groundbreaking event planned for URI’s Convocation Center. And, of course, there will be lots of reunions and time for all alumni to get reacquainted. On Friday, Oct. 13, fisheries, Latino, and MBA reunions will be held. The $25 ticket for The Murder Mystery Dinner planned at 7 p.m. includes entry to Midnight Madness. The Madness, which begins at 10:30 in Keaney Gym, offers URI a chance to whoop it up for its Rams basketball team. On Saturday, Oct. 14, dorm reunions will be held in Barlow Hall. At 10 a.m., alumni will begin tooting it up with an Alumni Band practice on Meade Field. Groundbreaking ceremonies for the Convocation Center follow at 10:30 in Keaney gym. This event jump starts the largest building project in URI history. The Rams vs. James Madison University football game will kick off at noon. Evening reunions are scheduled for the class of 1970 (and 1969 and 1971), the classes of 1980 and 1985 (and 1979, 1981, 1984, and 1986) and the classes of 1990 and 1995 (and 1989, 1991, 1994, and 1996.) A reunion is scheduled for the 1975 class of the College of Pharmacy. On Sunday, Oct. 15, the Alumni Association from URI’s Alan Shawn Feinstein College of Continuing Education in Providence will hold a brunch at the Moseby Center at URI’s Narragansett Bay Campus. A ’90s reunion brunch is also planned for the classes of 1990 and 1995. For specific locations, times, and other information, call the URI Alumni Office at 874-2242.
