URI to host program for all librarians in state

KINGSTON, R.I. — October 6, 2000 — Attention all librarians! The University of Rhode Island will host an interactive program for all Rhode Island librarians on Friday, October 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the University Club on Upper College Road. Cerise Oberman, dean of Library & Information Services at SUNY- Plattsburgh and founder of the Association of College and Research Libraries’ Institute for Information Literacy, will speak on “Partnerships for the Information Literate Community: A National Effort.” Oberman has spearheaded nationwide efforts to help school and community groups take advantage of new electronic resources. She co-chairs the American Library Association’s Special Presidential Committee on Information Literacy Community Partnerships. Breakout sessions will follow her talk.
