URI Career Services to hold
Summer Internship, Job Fair March 6

KINGSTON, R.I. — February 28, 2002 — Career Services at the University of Rhode Island will hold its Summer Internship & Job Fair on Wednesday, March 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Memorial Union Ballroom.

The job fair is free and open to students from other schools and the public as a whole. Forty companies, agencies and non-profit groups will be represented. High school students interested in landing summer jobs are also welcome.

Among the groups represented will be the Rhode Island Division of Parks and Recreation, Disney World College Program, Walgreens, Northeast Utilities, Norman Bird Sanctuary and Fidelity Investments.

“Many employers, because of the economy, aren’t conducting large-scale hirings,” said Peg Ferguson, assistant director of URI Career Services. “Instead, they are primarily hiring out of their internship pools. In this economic climate, we are trying to emphasize how important internships are for students as gateways into employment.”
