URI Providence Campus & Providence Black Repertory Co.
offer A Raisin in the Sun matinees for students and senior citizens

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — February 15, 2002 — The University of Rhode Island Providence Campus has teamed up with the Providence Black Repertory Company to host matinee performances of A Raisin In the Sun for junior and senior high school students and senior citizen groups.

The matinee performances of the classic American drama by Lorraine Hansberry will run from February 21 through March 29 on Thursdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. in the Paff Auditorium. The URI Providence Campus is located at 80 Washington Street, Providence.
The matinees include a discussion with the artists and educational study guides following the performance. Staged in an exciting and realistic manner in a contemporary urban setting, the play gives the audience an opportunity to experience African-American families struggling to get their share of the American Dream of home ownership in the late 1950s.

As this season is the Providence Black Repertory Companys inaugural year for student matinees, the price is set at the affordable rate of $10 per student. Artists visits to schools may be scheduled for a separate fee.
The Providence Black Repertory Company is dedicated to community and
education so the matinees are also available to seniors at the $10 rate. For more information or to make reservations, call 351-0353, ext. 5.
