KINGSTON, R.I. — October 31, 2005 — Chris Reed, the founding principal of StoSS Landscape Urbanism in Boston, will discuss “Public Works Practice” as the final speaker in the University of Rhode Island’s fall Community Planning and Landscape Architecture lecture series.

The lecture will take place on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in Weaver Auditorium at the Coastal Institute on URI’s Kingston campus. It is free and open to the public.

Reed is recognized for his urban designs and his knowledge of brownfields redevelopment and emerging technologies. A former senior associate at Hargreaves Associates in Cambridge, Mass., Reed was a project manager and designer for the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Riverfront Park in Little Rock, Ark., waterfront park in Louisville, Ky., and many planning, urban design and open space design projects at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio.

He has taught at Florida International University, the Harvard University Design School, the University of Virginia and RISD. Reed has also given lectures and presentations at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and the University of North Carolina. He holds an A.B. in urban studies from Harvard College and a master’s in landscape architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.
