HYBRID centers on the creative eclecticism existing among the recent work of seven of URI’s art faculty members: Bob Dilworth, Ron Hutt, William Klenk, Jerry Mischak, Brian O’Malley, Gary Richman, and Zoey Stites. All are using non-traditional methods and techniques to explore ways to tackle formal issues such as line, color, and shape through the use of text, tape, wood, cut canvas, modular drawings, and digital prints, among other materials. A large percentage of the works in the exhibition are collage-like in that the sum total is made of many disparate pieces and parts.
In many cases an entirely new visual experience emerges as a result. There are approximately 30 large works. For example, Dilworth’s installation, which consists of eight collages, each measuring 50″Hx38″W (together 105″Hx 172″W).
The gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 12 to 4 p.m.
