Take a ‘Cash Course’ on managing your money Nov. 4 with URI Women’s Council for Development

KINGSTON, R.I. – October 15, 2009 – The University of Rhode Island Women’s Council for Development will present “Cash Course: A Crash Course in Managing Your Money,” Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Designed for current students and recent graduates, the program will be held at the URI Alumni Center, 73 Upper College Road, Kingston. The fee for alumni is $5, while admission is free for students. The program begins with light dinner refreshments at 5 p.m.

Guest speakers will be Courtney Hunter, member relationship manager for People’s Credit Union, and Gail Hopkins, team supervisor for Money Management International.

They will discuss what recent graduates and students should know about budgeting, financial planning and dealing with credit card debt. They will also present tips on setting financial goals.

“This will be a fun and informative night for our young graduates and current students,” said Kathy Gianquitti, assistant director of Alumni Relations. “We promise that those who attend will enjoy an easy-to-understand presentation that will provide great opportunities for interaction between the audience and the speakers.

“This is also a wonderful networking event during which our guests will be able to talk with council members and the speakers about their educational path, their careers or even how to make connections in a new community or at a new job,” Gianquitti said.

Those who attend are eligible to win a copy of Suze Orman’s book, The Money Book for the Young Fabulous and Broke.
