URI employees to showcase talents at first holiday fair, Dec. 3

KINGSTON, R.I. – November 17, 2010 – The talents and wares of University of Rhode Island workers will be on display during the first Employee Holiday Fair on Friday, Dec. 3.

The Fair – which will run from 4:30 until 6 p.m. in the U-Club, 95 Upper College Road – will feature products and crafts made and sold by URI employees. Items for sale will feature jewelry, chocolate, gift baskets, handmade baby items and more.

“I thought this would be a wonderful opportunity for employees to show the different talents that they have,” said event organizer Michelle Curreri, senior assistant to President David M. Dooley. “It’s also a way to bring people together on campus. The U-Club provides a great common ground for people to gather, network and put names with faces.”

The event is free and open to the public.

“It’s a chance for the University and the neighboring communities to come together and have fun,” Curreri said. “With the holiday season coming up, we have an opportunity to share talents and support each other. You see people in another light and discover talents that others have. It’s also a great way to find great gifts that are made only in Rhode Island.”
