URI organizations sponsor screening of Anyone and Everyone, Nov. 17

KINGSTON, R.I. – November 12, 2010 — Several organizations at the University of Rhode Island are co-sponsoring a program to present and discuss the documentary film, “Anyone and Everyone.” Ed and Ann Bonetti, founders of PFLAG of South Central Rhode Island, will lead a discussion following the film.

Free and open to the public, the event will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 pm at the Norman M. Fain Hillel Center, 6 Fraternity Circle on the Kingston Campus.

“Anyone and Everyone” is a moving account of how parents from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds (Japanese, Bolivian, and Cherokee, Mormon, Jewish, Roman Catholic, Hindu, and Southern Baptist) deal with the revelation and reality that their child is gay or lesbian. The Bonettis, who co-chair the South Central RI PFLAG group (http://www.pflagscri.org/), are among the families interviewed in the film. Find more information about the film at http://www.anyoneandeveryone.com/about.html.

Students are encouraged to invite their parents and multi-cultural and multi-faith community members are also encouraged to view and discuss this film. This will be an opportunity for community members to learn more about, and become involved with, Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays South Central Rhode Island and URI (PFLAGSCRI/URI).

The program is sponsored by the URI GLBT Program Center (Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, Transgender), URI Hillel, the URI Gay-Straight Alliance, and PFLAG of South Central RI (Parents, Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gays). It is co-sponsored by the URI Multicultural Center and the Student Affairs Diversity Committee.
