URI to celebrate expanded, improved dining hall, launch project to make Ranger Hall hub for Harrington School of Communication and Media

Butterfield Dining Hall ceremonies at 3 p.m.

WHAT: University of Rhode Island to hold ceremonial “wall-breaking” to launch $6.3 million renovation of Ranger Hall to give the University ’s Harrington School of Communication and Media a cutting-edge facility in which students can gather, learn, study and present their work, while setting the table for the school to adapt to the rapidly evolving nature of new media and mass communication.


Later that afternoon, URI officials, alumni and students will hold a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the completion of a $12 million renovation and expansion of Butterfield Hall, which houses a dining and residence facility. At Butterfield, guests will sample the wide variety of foods and take tours of the dining hall and improvements to the residence hall.
