KINGSTON, R.I. — November 15, 2019 — Four Peace Corps volunteers and alumni of the University of Rhode Island will return Tuesday, Nov. 19 as part of International Week at the University.

The panel discussion will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Swan Hall Auditorium, 60 Upper College Road, Kingston Campus. The event will be free and open to the public.

There are four panelists:

Caroline Burns, who graduated with a degree in nursing in 2015, and volunteered in Rwanda from 2016 to 2018.

Abigail Reilly, who earned her master’s degree in URI’s College Student Personnel program in 2017, and volunteered in Benin from 2017 to 2019.

Nadia Soto De Avila, who graduated with degrees in political science and writing and rhetoric in 2011, and volunteered in Nicaragua from 2013 to 2015.

Kyle King, who graduated with a degree in film media in 2012, and volunteered in Ecuador from 2013 to 2015.

The event will be informative for anyone interested in joining the Peace Corps. Panelists will discuss why and how they applied to the Peace Corps, where they served and what their duties were, any cultural adjustment they dealt with when entering another country and returning home, and how their service has affected their lives since returning to the U.S.
