URI Faculty, Staff Honored with 2023 Excellence Awards

KINGSTON, R.I. – May 25, 2023 – The University of Rhode Island Foundation & Alumni Engagement (URIFAE) presented the 2023 Excellence Awards on May 24, to two URI faculty and two staff members in recognition of their distinguished achievements and service.

Representing four distinct categories, the Excellence Award honorees are:

Kathleen Maher, director, Office of National Fellowships and Academic Opportunities, received the Administrative Excellence Award. Maher lives in Wakefield.

Amy Harrington, administrative assistant, Physics Department, College of Arts and Sciences, received the Staff Excellence Award. Harrington lives in Coventry.

Keith Brown ’96, teaching professor, Film/Media, Harrington School of Communication and Media, received the Teaching Excellence Award. Brown lives in North Kingstown.

Jeffrey Bratberg, Pharm.D., FAPhA, clinical professor of pharmacy practice and clinical research, College of Pharmacy, received the Scholarly Excellence Award. Bratberg lives in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

URI President Marc Parlange, URI Foundation & Alumni Engagement President Lil Breul O’Rourke and Geraldine Barber, chair of the Excellence Awards Committee and a member of the Executive Committee of the URIFAE Board of Directors, presented formal citations, certificates, and honoraria to each of the recipients before an audience of University officials, faculty, staff, family, and friends at the URI Alumni Center.

The Excellence Awards honor University members whose hard work and dedication consistently elevate their departments and colleges. Established in 1970, more than 200 faculty and staff have been recognized for outstanding academic and administrative accomplishments.
