Oct. 31, 2023

Dear URI Community,

I am pleased to announce that Kimberly Stack, Ed.D., has been named executive director of undergraduate student success and academic support following a national search. For nearly two decades, Dr. Stack has been committed to developing opportunities and resources for URI students to excel in their academic journeys and professional pursuits.

In her new role, Kim will oversee University College for Academic Success and, with team members, work with the University community to address institutional strategic  priorities around enhancing student achievement, fostering an inclusive culture, and powering the University of the future, as outlined in the University’s strategic plan, Focus URI.

University College for Academic Success administers a broad range of student-focused programs, including new student and early-year academic advising, new first-year and transfer student support, exploration of majors for undecided/undeclared students, student-athlete advising and support, prior learning assessment, service learning, and special academic programs. University College is also home to several centers and resources that enhance student achievement, including the Academic Enhancement Center, the Center for Career and Experiential Education, the Transfer Resource Center, Early Alert, and Starfish.

As the director of URI’s Center for Career and Experiential Education for nearly a decade, Kim led several important cross-campus efforts that included co-chairing URI’s involvement and current three-year work in the Gardner Institute in Equity and Retention Academy; co-chairing URI’s student success team that consists of more than 60 faculty and staff across academic and student affairs; serving on the Board of Directors for the Southern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce; partnering with Westerly Credit Union to create a financial wellness platform for the URI campus community; overseeing URI 101; and leading a dynamic and award-winning career and experiential education team.

Kim is committed to student success, is passionate about the work of our division and University, and looks forward to collaborating with the campus community to enhance student achievement and outcomes.

Thank you for welcoming her into this new role and for your continued  collaboration and partnership as we continue to cultivate an engaged and inclusive learning environment for our students.
