RhodyTHON teams up with URI men’s soccer to host Miracle Kids from Hasbro Children’s Hospital

KINGSTON, R.I. — Oct. 20, 2023 — The RhodyTHON Dance Marathon returns to the University of Rhode Island campus every spring semester to raise money for Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence.

Kicking off preparations for the event, RhodyTHON organizers have partnered with the URI men’s soccer team for its game Saturday night for the children who depend on the hospital’s services.

The Rams men’s soccer team will collaborate with RhodyTHON to raise money for the next edition of the annual event. On Oct. 21, the Rams will take on Loyola University of Chicago at 7 p.m. at URI’s Soccer Complex, helping to spread awareness of RhodyTHON. Admission is free.

At the beginning of the game, the “Miracle Kids,” who benefit from the year-round programming and fundraising, and their families, will join the men’s soccer team for the national anthem, and at halftime they will take the field to participate in a scrimmage against RhodyTHON organizers.

There will also be a booth on the sidelines where spectators can make donations to the RhodyTHON campaign, and learn more about the events and work student organizers do throughout the year.

Last year, the RhodyTHON event raised $46,000 for Hasbro Children’s Hospital. This year, RhodyTHON will be held in Mackal Field House and will happen in late March.

“It is amazing that we can work together to provide a great experience for the kids,” says RhodyTHON External Director Isabella Legget, a kinesiology major at URI. “Bringing the campus together to serve Hasbro Children’s Hospital and our Miracle families is what RhodyTHON is all about and I’m glad that we can support the soccer team throughout the process.”
