Peace and Human Rights Awards nominations open

Jan. 10, 2024

The URI Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies and URI Chaplains Association invite URI students, faculty, and staff to nominate an exceptional student (undergraduate or graduate) and/or a URI faculty or staff member who has made significant contributions to nonviolence, peace, or human rights through their research, teaching, outreach, or services.

Any member of the campus community can submit nomination(s) for the MLK Peace Award or Human Rights Award, to play a crucial role in recognizing and celebrating outstanding individuals in the URI community.

The submission deadline is January 22, 2024

Winners will be recognized with a certificate and a $500 award on February 7, at the Dr. King Unity Luncheon at the Multicultural Student Services Center. The Chaplains Association will also donate $100 to the charity of the Peace Award recipient’s choice.

Nominate candidates today at the 2024 nomination site.

The URI Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies organizes educational programs, training workshops, documentary films, and guest lecture series to promote nonviolence, inner peace, well-being, human rights, and a beloved global community.
