University adding powerful tool to combat phishing attacks

July 24, 2024

Starting Monday, Aug. 5, the University is launching a powerful tool – ProofPoint PhishAlarm – that will allow community members to report potential phishing emails.

Phishing attacks are deceptive attempts to steal your personal information such as passwords, credit card numbers, and sensitive data. ProofPoint PhishAlarm will enhance your email security by allowing you to report potential phishing attacks from your Gmail desktop browser or mobile app interfaces.

The PhishAlarm button will be located on the toolbar on the right side of the Gmail web interface. In the Gmail mobile app, the button is at the bottom of the message. If you receive an email that seems suspicious, all you have to do is click the button.
