The URI Police Department will be conducting active threat training exercises beginning Tuesday, July 23, through Friday, July 26. The exercises will take place in Tucker Hall. The area being used during the exercises will be clearly marked with signs indicating police training in progress.

On July 23-26, the exercises will take place between 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. On July 26, exercises will also take place that morning between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m.

The officers will be accompanied by instructors/safety officers wearing yellow vests and no live weapons will be used. There will be occasional loud noises created in the building by sound-emitting distraction devices and fired blanks. There may be role players using special-effects makeup.
