Notice of treatment and disposal of reactive chemical waste on Oct. 23

The University of Rhode Island Environmental Health and Safety Department, along
with Clean Earth Waste Solutions, will oversee the removal, treatment and disposal of
reactive/shock sensitive hazardous waste from certain locations on campus.

These chemicals will be removed from the Beaupre Center for Chemical and Forensic
Sciences, Avedisian Hall, Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering, Woodward Hall,
and the Hazardous Waste Main Accumulation Building at 53 Flagg Road. At the
Narragansett Bay Campus, this task will be completed at the Hazardous Waste Main
Accumulation Area, located south of the Furtado Building.

Removal and treatment activities will begin at 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, and
conclude at approximately 7 a.m. the same day. Access to limited portions of these
buildings and the Beaupre Center loading dock area may be restricted during that time. Additionally, access to the Science Quad may also be restricted. Restricted areas will be marked with yellow caution tape.
