Dear Rams,
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful winter break that included some time to rest and recharge for the start of the spring semester. As we come back together and embark on what I know will be a fun, fulfilling spring semester at URI, I want to take this opportunity to remind you of all the community resources available to support your success.
As we begin to once again enjoy longer daylight and the weather begins to change, the daily challenge of balancing schoolwork with your social life outside of the classroom can take a toll on your physical and mental health. Major events such as the tragic California wildfires can shape our perception of the world around us and impact our ability to focus on what’s in front of us.
With that in mind, I encourage you to take advantage of the various community resources available to assist you:

One of the best things about URI is our vibrant campus life. There’s truly something for everyone, no matter what interests you most. I encourage all of you to check out the opportunities through our Student Involvement team. Whether you join a club, plan your own event, or take part in one of many URI traditions, staying connected to the URI community makes campus life much more enjoyable.
As always, your well-being is our priority; if you encounter bias, discrimination, hate, or have concerns about a community member, please report your concerns to our Report It page. For emergencies on the Kingston Campus, dial 9-1-1, and for non-emergency needs, our URI Police Department is available at 401-874-4910. We’re committed to fostering a safe and welcoming campus community for everyone.
I look forward to seeing you on and around campus, whether in the Memorial Union, at the Fascitelli Fitness and Wellness Center, or at the Ryan Center to cheer on our men’s and women’s basketball teams. As you return to campus relaxed, refreshed, and ready to tackle the spring semester, remember to be kind to yourself – and others. Together, we’re unstoppable!
Go Rhody!
