The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Rhode Island, with plowable snow and ice accumulations expected tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 6). The University of Rhode Island is making the following modifications to class schedules and parking:
CLASSES
All morning and afternoon classes (those with a start time before 5 p.m.) on Thursday, Feb. 6, are canceled.
All evening classes (those with a start time at 5 p.m. or later) on Thursday, Feb. 6, will meet as scheduled.
BUSINESS OPERATIONS AND STAFF REPORTING
The University will maintain normal business operations on Thursday. All essential employees must report to work. Non-essential employees may work remotely if feasible with the approval of their supervisor. Non-essential employees may also request to discharge vacation or personal leave.
CLINICAL EXPERIENCES
In-area pharmacy, nursing, and physical therapy students should contact their site preceptor/clinical instructor to discuss the appropriate actions to take on Thursday.
DINING HALLS, HEALTH SERVICES, AND CAMPUS RECREATION
All on-campus dining halls and campus health services will follow normal operating hours. Campus Recreation facilities will be closed in the morning, opening at 1 p.m.
LIBRARY
The Carothers Library and Learning Commons will maintain normal hours.
PARKING
The University will institute a partial parking ban from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6.
During a partial parking ban, parking is prohibited on any roadway or roadside parking area throughout campus. Students, staff, and visitors with approved parking privileges may park in designated parking lots during a partial parking ban. Please be aware of these restrictions and park only in approved locations. Vehicles parked in areas where parking is prohibited during a partial parking ban will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense.
