Please be aware of the following traffic pattern changes expected July 24-25 near the intersection of Plains Road and West Alumni Avenue as work is conducted to install sewer piping across Plains Road.

During this period, passenger vehicles will be routed as follows:

FROM ROUTE 138:

Passenger vehicles will be routed through the solar parking lot at the end of West Alumni Avenue (at Plains Road), back onto West Alumni Avenue, and then either north through the Plains Road parking lot or east onto West Alumni Avenue toward the Ryan Center.

The road will be reopened at night and the trenches covered with road crossing plates.

We encourage all passenger vehicles to find an alternate route around this intersection during this period.

Heavy truck vehicles will not be allowed to use Plains Road during this period.

FROM FLAGG ROAD/TOOTELL ROAD INTERSECTION:

Passenger vehicles will be routed through the Plains Road parking lot as detailed in the accompanying sketch, back onto West Alumni Avenue, and then either south through the solar parking lot or east onto West Alumni Avenue toward the Ryan Center.

The road will be reopened at night and the trenches covered with road crossing plates.

We encourage all passenger vehicles to find an alternate route around this intersection during this period.

Heavy truck vehicles will not be allowed to use Plains Road during this period.

Message boards will be installed at Route 138 and at the Tootell/Plains Road/Flagg Road intersections by URI Police with updated information on the closing.

Police details will be assigned to the Plains Road detours before and after the crossing location, and at Flagg Road to attempt to dissuade non-essential vehicles from using Plains Road.

Police details will also be assigned to prevent heavy truck traffic from using Plains Road.
