Each year, the Honorary Degree Committee seeks names of individuals who have distinguished themselves through important contributions to the University, the state of Rhode Island, or the nation—individuals who deserve to be honored by the University and who will bring honor to the University by accepting a URI honorary degree.
You are invited to nominate candidates for an honorary degree to be conferred at the 202g commencement ceremonies. Here’s how:
- Start by reviewing the eligibility criteria for nomination.
- Gather background information, letters and related details in support of your nomination.
- Complete the honorary degree nomination form for each nominee.
- Submit all information by Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, to Jeanne Hruska, chief of staff, Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. If you have any questions, please email jeanne.hruska@uri.edu.
If selected, the 2026 recipient(s) will become part of a distinguished group of over 400 individuals awarded honorary degrees from the University of Rhode Island since 1941.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
